Frank and Jewel Atkins of Holder will be celebrating 70 years of marriage on June 11.

On June 11, 1949, Frank and Jewel started out on an adventure. One may ask, how can two remain together for 70 years? When Frank and Jewel were asked this question, they simply said, “trust in God and prayer.”

The union of their love yielded four amazing, intelligent beautiful, God-fearing women. Mae Helen Atkins-Cofer (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Rossie Mae Atkins-Joyner (deceased), Frankie Mae Atkins-Handsborough (Lady Lake), and Geraldine Atkins-Shaw (deceased). Also, there are 17 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand on the way.

Frank was employed by the Citrus County School Board. At the age of 90, he continues to provide for his family. Jewel provided a loving home environment for her family. She continues to maintain the family’s finances and make sure that Frank has hot meals every day.

Frank and Jewel set positive examples, love, and support their family. Most of all, they keep God first.
