CRYSTAL RIVER — With a young team against a perennial powerhouse in the state, the Crystal River varsity football squad might not have expected a favorable result.

What Pirates head coach Nathan Varnadore wanted was to see improvement over from the spring and heading into the regular season.
While the scoreboard might not indicate it, Crystal River came away with some things to build off of during a 28-0 varsity loss over two quarters to Ocala Trinity Catholic on Friday night at Earl Bramlett Stadium.
