Feds end manatee watch partnership

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s more than decade-long partnership work with the manatee watch volunteer program at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is ending.

But officials at the park said the program will continue uninterrupted and volunteers will now be donning Florida Park Service uniforms.

The manatee watch program at the Blue Waters, springhead of the Homosassa River, was created in 2002 after two manatee sanctuaries were created in the area.
