A rough patch

Tony Russ, owner of Florida Best Blueberries in Inverness, is in a bit of a rough patch these days.

Given what he calls the dreadful state of the blueberry industry in central Florida, Russ said he finds himself questioning for the first time in the six years he’s been open whether he should continue growing the fruit.

“I can’t afford to go out and I can’t afford to stay in,” Russ says. “I’m between a rock and a hard place.”
