With a smile from ear to ear, 18-year-old Garrett Moore explains how he placed first in the state of at a SkillsUSA competition in Lakeland. The student recently graduated from Citrus High School, where he spent time attending classes at the Withlacoochee Technical College in Inverness. He’s on track to graduate from WTC’s electrical program next fall.
Reinventing the motor

Garrett Moore’s mother recalls how her son always had a knack for tinkering, creating electrical or mechanical contraptions out of mismatched parts. But it is her son’s recent brush with innovative fame that has her beaming with pride.

Moore, 18, of Withlacoochee Technical College and Citrus High School, recently placed first in the state at a SkillsUSA competition in Lakeland and is poised to showcase his project on the national stage at a SkillsUSA event in Louisville, Kentucky, in late June.
