Orlando residents Terry Taylor, left, and Sharon Dudley keep warm Wednesday on a blustery afternoon in Crystal River at Roger Goettelmann Memorial Pier. Windy conditions following a cold front that dragged across Florida on Tuesday and up the East Coast on Wednesday disrupted travelers during the busiest travel time of the year. Locally, post-frontal conditions dropped temperatures and pushed much of the water from local tidal rivers with a strong wind, causing numerous vessels in shallow waters to lay on their sides.
Rain dries up for holiday

Morning fog on Tuesday preceded an afternoon deluge of rain, drenching Citrus County.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office had reports of several flooded areas, especially in the Inverness area near Withlacoochee Technical College and West Main Street.

Areas in southwest Citrus County seemed to be hit the hardest, with close to 5 inches of rain.
