To improve water quality, Hunter Springs has a targeted nitrogen reduction of 64 percent, the highest level among the springs associated with King’s Bay. Hitting that target will be a focus of the Basin Action Management Plan for King’s Bay and associated springs., which is currently in process.
King’s Bay plan optimistic

CRYSTAL RIVER — Water quality is the main issue behind the Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) for King’s Bay and its associated springs. 

And with low numeric goals to achieve toward reducing pollution, improvements could come quickly.

Florida Department of Environment Protection (DEP) and Southwest Florida Water Management District representatives held a public meeting Tuesday to introduce the BMAP process.
