Working on Week 2 for the Community-Wide Fitness Challenge

We're off to a great start!

Week 1 scores for all the teams turning in points by the deadline will appear in the Citrus County Chronicle on Tuesday, February 21, in the Health section.

SATURDAY ACTIVITIES
1.  Thanks to Jazzercise of Citrus County, which hosted free classes for Fitness Challengers on February 11, as well as for demonstrating some of the moves at our team leader meeting before the Challenge began. 

2. Remember that the Pets 'N Steps team from the Inverness Animal Hospital is walking on the Withlacoochee State Trail with furry friends on March 3. The flyer was sent to team leaders previously. Contact fitnesschallenge@tampabay.rr.com if you need details again. 

3. Here's a new one!
Team "Bookin' It" from the Citrus County Library System is planning a fun walk on Saturday morning, February 25th at 9am in Floral City. We plan to meet up in the parking lot behind the library. After the walk some of the people are planning to meet up at Shamrocks for a late breakfast / early lunch around 11 a.m.   Very informal. Any and all are welcome to join.   See you there with your walkin' shoes on!

 NUTRITION TIP
Sometimes people who are trying to control their weight complain of feeling hungry. We should all exercise portion control , but including all the recommended foods in your daily menu should do a good job of filling you.  Here are some tips from the Citrus County Health Department:

To lower your risk of heart attack or stroke, include these items in your diet: 
 -- Eat 5 to 9 servings of vegetables and fruit every day; different colors of fruits and vegetables have different nutrients, so vary your colors!

-- Eat 3 servings of fiber-rich whole grains a day; choose foods such as whole-grain cereal and breads

-- Eat fish at least 2 times a week.  Choose fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, halibut, and cod
