How many times have you asked someone to do something and in return received a blank look? Have you started to give instructions and watched the other person tune you out? How often do you over explain, under explain or make things more difficult than necessary?
I can’t seem to find that magic moment when my explanations become clear to others. As I realize I am losing my audience, I wish someone would say “STOP!”
At the start of every new semester we are fortunate to have student assistants to help us. They are intelligent, eager and a vital asset to our department. Of course, that means I have to explain various duties on a regular basis. These are college students and yet as my instruction begins a blank look slowly creeps over their young faces. I realize that I need help communicating!
Luckily for me and many others, the College of Central Florida Citrus Campus, will be offering “Presenting Perfection.” This workshop helps one learn how to develop and deliver their message to get the desired result. Learn how to deliver a presentation to one person or to a roomful of people, whether you are using visuals or just talking!
This lunch and learn workshop will be on Wednesday, October 19, from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at the CF Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway, Lecanto. A box lunch is included in the fee of $49. For more information or to register please call 352 249-1210.
