A Lecanto man and woman were arrested early Wednesday morning on drug charges after sheriff’s deputies discovered a meth lab at their residence, according to a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies responded to a tip from a caller who said 43-year-old Linda Choui-nard told him her boyfriend, 40-year-old Dennis Mansfield Jr., had been cooking methamphetamine durind the past several days and there were fumes inside the home, according to the report.
Upon arrival at the home on West Manasha Street, deputies concluded the two suspects were under the influence of methamphetamine, and the pair told deputies there were materials for manufacturing methamphetamine inside the home. Mansfield said he had purchased materials, including lye, liquid drain opener, Coleman fuel and Sudafed and admitted to using methamphetamine. He said he had attempted to manufacture methamphetamine twice; the first attempt was unsuccessful.
Chouinard admitted to helping during the cooking process. She also said they never sold any methamphetamine, according to the report.
Chouinard and Mansfield were each charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a listed chemical with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were taken to the Citrus County Detention Facility, where bond for each was set at $150,500.
