For the Chronicle
The Citrus County School Board on Tuesday hesitantly approved a request by the Florida Department of Health in Citrus County to administer human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines to students with parental permission.
The vaccine will be offered for free at all county middle schools, but will be optional.
School board members voted 3-2 in favor of offering the vaccine after an extensive discussion that touched on issues of consent, administration and cost.
