Domestic battery arrests

* Joshua Ellis, 37, of Homosassa, at 8:44 a.m. July 16 on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Ellis was also charged with felony violation of probation stemming from an original charge of battery on a law enforcement officer. He violated his probation when he was arrested Tuesday for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon.

* Zachary Van Housen, 20, of Homosassa, at 8:55 a.m. July 16 on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. He was also charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Other arrests

* Jillyn Clements, 33, of North Citrus Avenue, Crystal River, at 6:59 p.m. July 14 on an active Hernando County warrant for felony charges of grand theft, and exploitation of an elderly or disabled person. Bond $7,000.

* Remus Scalf, 42, of Hammet Road, Inglis, at 3:14 a.m. July 15 on a charge of knowingly driving with a suspended license. According to his arrest affidavit, Scalf was pulled over for a faulty tag light. Records indicate his license had been revoked for driving under the influence in 2009. Bond $10,000. 

* Heather Burrows, 44, of East Live Oak Lane, Inverness, at 7:52 a.m. July 15 on a felony charge of fraudulent use of a credit card. According to her arrest affidavit, Burrows is accused of using the victim’s Discover card at the Homosassa Walmart on two different occasions, purchasing a gift card, cigarettes, lip balm, and withdrawing cash from the transaction. The first purchase was for a total of $304.94, and the second purchase was for $77.91. Burrows also reportedly attempted to withdraw $100 from the Homosassa Bank of America with the same card but the transaction was declined. Her bond was set at $2,000.

* Shelly Stafford, 32, of North Beginning Path, Crystal River, at 12:23 p.m. July 15 on an active warrant for a misdemeanor charge of obtaining property by means of a worthless check. Her bond was set at $150.

* Patrick McEachern, 23, of West Cedar Hill Street, Dunnellon, at 11:30 a.m. July 15 on felony charges of burglary to an unoccupied structure, and grand theft, along with a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence. According to his arrest affidavit, McEachern is accused of breaking into a shed in Dunnellon and stealing two chainsaws and a hedge trimmer. Deputies were able to trace two of the stolen items back to pawn shop transactions made by McEachern in Marion County. McEachern reportedly attempted to flee on foot when deputies went to place him under arrest, running approximately 75 yards until deputies caught up to him. Following his arrest, McEachern reportedly stated that the chain saw that he had not pawned was in the woods near the victim’s residence, but deputies were unable to find it. His bond was set at $8,000.

* David Mendes Jr., 38, of East Joseph Lane, Inverness, at 4:04 p.m. July 15 on an active warrant for felony violation of probation stemming from an original charge of child neglect.

* Michelle Black, 40, of Lecanto, at 3:21 p.m. July 15 for felony retail theft. Her bond was set at $2,000.

* Emerald Smith, 26, of Lake Shore Drive, Inverness, at 5:40 p.m. July 15 on an active warrant for felony violation of probation. 

* Joshua Ellis, 37, of South Iroquois Avenue, Homosassa, at 6:05 p.m. July 15 on felony charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a concealed firearm, along with a misdemeanor charge of knowingly displaying a suspended license. According to his arrest affidavit, Ellis was spotted as a potential trespasser at Crystal Chevrolet. Deputies reported finding him lying on his back near a hole in the property’s fence. He had a black .38 revolver in the front of his pants, and two pocket knives in his back waistband. Ellis was reportedly on probation and had a prior felony conviction for battery on a law enforcement officer. Ellis had a license issued in 1993 in his wallet, and records indicate that he had a newer license issued that had already been surrendered to authorities for failure to pay financial obligations. His bond was set at $12,500.

* William Roddenberry, 39, of South Skylark Terrace, Homosassa, at 3:02 a.m. July 16 on a misdemeanor charge of drug paraphernalia. According to his arrest affidavit, Roddenberry was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for running a stop sign. The driver reportedly gave permission for deputies to search the car and a silver scale with methamphetamine residue was found in the passenger door panel, where Roddenberry had been sitting. Deputies searching Roddenberry also found a plastic cylinder with methamphetamine residue in his pants pocket. His bond was set at $1,000.

* Archie Brass Jr., 23, of West Arter Street, Crystal River, at 10:30 a.m. July 16 on an active warrant for felony violation of probation stemming from an original charge of aggravated battery.

* Donna Farrell, 41, of East Salmon Drive, Floral City, at 12:22 p.m. July 16 on felony charges of burglary to an unoccupied residence, and grand theft. According to her arrest affidavit, Farrell is accused of entering the victim’s home and stealing $400 in cash. Deputies watched surveillance video reportedly showing Farrell entering the neighbor’s residence while the victims were away and leaving before they arrived back home. Her bond was set at $7,000.

* Luis Santos, 36, of Roosevelt Boulevard, Beverly Hills, at 6:09 p.m. July 16 on a retail theft charge. According to his arrest affidavit, Santos is accused of shoplifting various electronics, valued at $1,105.38, from the Lecanto Walmart on multiple occasions. Santos reportedly cooperated with deputies and helped them retrieve most of the stolen items from his home and vehicle. His bond was set at $2,000.

* Robert Brooks III, 30, of West Arter Street, Crystal River, at 12:12 a.m. July 17 on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. According to his arrest affidavit, Brooks was trespassed from the Kangaroo Express in Crystal, then returned a few hours later to purchase a pack of cigarettes. His bond was set at $500.

* Jamie Smith, 22, of U.S. 41, Inverness, at 12:42 a.m. July 17 on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of drug paraphernalia. According to her arrest affidavit, Smith was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. A K-9 unit alerted to possible drugs in the vehicle and 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and pencil casing used to snort the drug were found in her possession. Her bond was set at $2,500.

* A burglary to a structure was reported at 3:32 p.m. July 11 in the 6500 block of E. Waverly St., Inverness.

* A residential burglary was reported at 6:47 p.m. July 11 in the 4500 block of N. Timberwood Point, Crystal River.

* A burglary to a structure was reported at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in the 1500 block of N. Point Lonesome Road, Inverness.

* A vehicle burglary was reported at 7:14 a.m. Sunday, July 13, in the 13000 block of S. Istachatta Road, Floral City.

* A residential burglary was reported at 10:14 p.m. July 13 in the 3100 block of N. Chandler Drive, Hernando.

* A commercial burglary was reported at 1:36 a.m. Monday, July 14, in the 900 block of N. Suncoast Blvd., Crystal River.

* A residential burglary was reported at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, in the 1200 block of N.W. Fifth Terrace, Crystal River.

* A vehicle burglary was reported at 12:04 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, in the 6100 block of W. Sunnyland Lane, Crystal River.

* A commercial burglary was reported at 3:53 p.m. July 16 in the 10500 block of N. Suncoast Blvd., Inglis.

* A grand theft was reported at 10:46 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in the 3600 block of E. Arbor Lakes Drive, Hernando.

* A petit theft was reported at 2:01 p.m. July 12 in the 300 block of N.E. U.S. 19, Crystal River.
