Mary ‘Kate’ Bruns, 79
Mary Catherine “Kate” Bruns, 79, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Pavilion Nursing Home in the care of Hospice of Sidney, Ohio.
Born on January 24, 1929, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio. She married the late Louis F. Bruns of Osgood, Ohio, after WWII and moved to Inverness, Florida, in 1972 where she lived for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing BINGO, gardening, sewing, crocheting and was of Catholic Faith.
She is survived by her sons, John Patterson (wife Bonnie) of Bradford, Ohio, Doug Bruns (wife Sue) of Homosassa, Florida and Ted Bruns of Sidney, Ohio and daughter Toni Conti (husband Jay Sr.) of Inverness, Florida, 11 Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren and sisters Pat Barlage of Newport, Ohio, and Sally Monnin of Russia, Ohio.
A Memorial Ceremony will be held at a later date in Osgood, Ohio.
Helen Gillett, 77
Helen Virginia Gillett, 77, of Inverness, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is in charge of private cremation arrangements.
Ruth Jarrett, 86
Ruth Elizabeth Jarrett, 86, Hernando, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Brentwood. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Father James Johnson from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Florida National Cemetery.
Ruth was born on March 27, 1922, in Miami to the late John and Estella (Freas) Caple and came here in 1972 from there. After finishing school in Miami, Everglades City and Felda, Florida, Ruth returned to Miami and finished high school at Jackson, graduating with honors. She continued her education by attending St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Jacksonville, FL, graduating in 1942. She married Navy Lt. B. N. Jarrett in Miami in 1944; he preceded her in death in 1975. She retired after 11 years at Citrus Memorial Hospital in 1986 and started traveling with her sister in a motor home. She toured most of the United States, including Alaska, Nova Scotia, Victoria and a lot of beautiful places in Canada. After selling the motor home, she lived a quiet life at home, traveling only to Atlanta and Miami.
She was a member of The Florida Society of Registered Nurses and a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Her grandson Kevin Jarrett became a nurse also because of her mentoring. She is survived by two sons, Randal S. and wife Suzanne Jarrett and Wendell N. Jarrett, both of Hernando, her sister, Patricia H. Martin of Tollhouse, CA, six grandsons and six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family requests donations to the National Arthritis Foundation in lieu of flowers. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
William C. Keller, 86, of Inverness, FL, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, and the funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. at the Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL.
Nicholas Leonardis, 87
Nicholas Leonardis, 87, of Inverness, died on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Leonardis will be held in Mt. Kisco, New York. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, Florida.
Anthony C. Miranti, 86, Inverness, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marietta Miranti; two sons, Joseph S. Miranti and wife Janet, of St. Cloud, and Salvatore A. Miranti and wife Vicki, of Inverness; and five grandchildren, Tricia and Marshall Riccardi, Elizabeth Miranti, Michael C. Miranti and Anthony B. Miranti.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., and the service will begin at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, Florida. Entombment at Fero Memorial Gardens.
The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Margaret A. Simon, age 89, of Hernando will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Rev. Jeff Burke officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Inverness Chapel.
Born October 22, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Jaconetti) Palermo. Mrs. Simon died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Hernando. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Simon (04/24/85) and her parents.
Surviving are 2 sons: George Simon and wife, Linda and John Simon and wife Peggy, all of Hernando, FL; 3 daughters: Marlene Fulford and husband, William (Bud) of Rome, GA; Kathy Kari and husband, Paul of Wilmington, OH; Susan Joy of Lincoln, NE; 2 brothers: Jack Palermo and Joseph Palermo and 2 sisters: Anne Knorr and Evelyn Kimmerle, all of Pittsburgh, PA; 8 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

Roy Otto Wainwright, 69, of Homosassa, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at the Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville. He was born on November 13, 1938, to Maxie and Marie Wainwright in Daytona Beach, Florida, and he moved here 9 years ago from Key Largo, Florida.
He was of the Christian faith. He was a retired Air Traffic Controller for Miami International Airport and owned and operated the Lake Surprise Jet Ski in Key Largo, FL, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Riverhaven Village Community Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Sandra D. Wainwright, in 2006 and by a brother, Jack Wainwright, also in 2006. He is survived by his wife Barbara J. Stedman of Homosassa, FL, brother Ion Wainwright (Sarah) of Merriville, Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews. Private cremation arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home, Crystal River.
