LECANTO — The Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 1:24 p.m. Friday at 5716 S. Gray Oak Terrace in Lecanto.
Upon arrival, Homosassa firefighters found the 2,200-square-foot, wood-framed home 80 percent involved with fire.
Crews went into a defensive mode and extinguished the fire from the exterior due to the amount of fire involvement. An addition that was added to the structure was not completely destroyed due to crews protecting the area.
Crews from several stations arrived and the fire was completely extinguished at 2:38 p.m. Due to the lack of hydrants in the area, a water shuttle was used to provide water supply for extinguishment.
The structure was vacant and not occupied at time of the blaze. The power company disconnected power to the property.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the scene.
According to the fire incident report, 100 percent of the structure was damaged. Damage to the contents was estimated at $105,000, per the Citrus County Property Appraiser’s website.
