CRYSTAL RIVER — A Crystal River woman who was employed as a home care professional was arrested Tuesday on identity theft charges.

Rebecca Ann Bilby, 30, N. Conant Avenue, was arrested on charges of criminal use of personal identification information and scheming to defraud. Bilby’s bond is $6,000.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bilby is a former administrator of Crystal Gem Manor Assisted Living facility. However, she was terminated in May after suspicious transactions were uncovered.

Bilby was cashing payroll checks, using credit cards and applying for credit cards of former employees and Gem Manor residents — who left the facility or passed away.

Reports state that Crystal Gem Manor Assisted Living has been cooperative during the investigation. Officials there have tried to reimburse multiple victims for lost money.

Bilby was arrested and taken to the Citrus County Detention Facility.
