U.S. Coast Guard members rescued a couple Wednesday after their plane crashed in waters near Yankeetown.
The Federal Aviation Administration contacted the Coast Guard at about 8:45 p.m., reporting a single-engine plane had crashed near the end of Levy County Road 40 in the Withlacoochee Bay, according to a Coast Guard news release.
The Coast Guard Station Yankeetown rescue vehicle at 9:21 p.m. found a 19-year-old Longwood man and an 18-year-old Cape Coral woman standing on top of their plane in roughly two feet of water.
