Courthouse offers hearing devices

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator at the Citrus County Courthouse wants to remind people with trouble hearing that hearing-assisted devices are available.

At least seven days prior to your scheduled court appearance, or immediately upon receiving a notification to appear if the scheduled appearance is less than seven days, call the ADA coordinator at 352-341-6700.

Those with other needs can call the same number. Federal law requires that accommodations be made for all persons with disabilities at no cost to them to participate in a court proceeding.

Registration costs drops Sept. 1

Citrus County Tax Collector Janice A. Warren advises taxpayers that vehicle registration fees will be reduced, effective Sept. 1, for registrations that expire Sept. 1, 2014, and later.

Individuals may not want to renew in advance in order to take advantage of the reduced fees since they do not go into effect until Sept. 1; however, be aware that registrations do expire midnight of your birthday.

The mailing of the renewal notices for all registrations that expire in September and October will be mailed in late August. You may contact the Citrus County Tax Collector’s Office at 352-341-6500 if you have any questions. The office will be closed Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day, however, registrations can be renewed online at www.citrustc.us.

Seventh-graders require immunization

The Citrus County School Board reminds parents of 2014-15 school year seventh-graders that the TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) immunization is required before starting school.

If a child has received the TDAP immunization, parents should bring proof to the school so the date is entered on the child’s immunization record.

For information, call the district’s student health specialist at 352-527-0090.
