­Teacher named to state board

This past Friday, Gov. Rick Scott announced the appointment of Brian Donovan to the state Board of Landscape Architecture.

Donovan, 46, of Crystal River, is a teacher with the Citrus County School System. 

He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term running from July 25, 2014, to Oct. 31, 2017.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. 


Kings Bay Drive to be re-paved

The city of Crystal River will be re-paving a portion of Kings Bay Drive from Cutler Spur Boulevard to Southwest First Place. Work is expected to begin on Thursday and continue through Friday, Aug. 8, weather permitting. 

Work will be done during normal business hours. There will be lane closures and traffic delays, but the roads will remain open and access to residences will be maintained.

Water board to meet Aug. 4

The Citrus County Water and Wastewater Authority will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, in Room 166 of the Lecanto Government Building, 3600 W. Sovereign Path, Lecanto. 

In addition to agenda items, there will be a presentation by the county attorney’s office on the Sunshine Law.

This meeting is open to the public.

Any person requiring reasonable accommodation at this meeting because of a disability or physical impairment should contact the Office of Utility Regulation at 352-419-6520 at least one week before the meeting.

The Citrus County Water and Wastewater Authority is a board of appointees that provides for the regulation of private water, bulk water, and wastewater utilities in the unincorporated areas of Citrus County.

WRWSA cancels Aug. 20 meeting

The Withlacoochee Regional Water Supply Authority meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 20, has been canceled. 

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Lecanto Government Building, Room 166, 3600 W. Sovereign Path, Lecanto. 


VA clinic taking enrollments

The Lecanto VA Clinic is currently accepting health care enrollments and registrations. 

VA enrollment qualifies as Minimum Essential Coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). 

New patient appointments for primary care and mental health are available. 

The clinic is at 2804 W. Marc Knighton Court, Lecanto (next to Black Diamond). Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; closed federal holidays.
