Ground-breaking set Friday for Valerie

The public is welcome to attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the renovation of the Valerie Theatre on Friday.

The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. at the historic theater, 207 Courthouse Square, in downtown Inverness.

The city-owned building is being renovated and, upon completion, will serve as a facility for a variety of community events.


Republicans set forum in Homosassa

The Homosassa River Republican Club will sponsor a forum for the Citrus County School Board candidates at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the Lion’s Club on Old Homosassa Trail. 

Each candidate will be able to present his/her qualifications to the club members and guests and answer audience questions. 


GOP club skips July meeting

The North Suncoast Republican Club will not have a July meeting.  The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Sugarmill Woods Country Club. 

The guest speaker will be Supervisor of Elections Susan Gill.

Port board meeting slated July 22

The Citrus County Port Authority will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, in Room 100 of the Citrus County Courthouse in Inverness. 

The following items are on the agenda:

+ Discussion on the status of the Port Feasibility Study.

+ Request for authorization for development of an Invitation to Negotiate for the Barge Canal Boat Ramp/ Marina Development.

+ Discussion of the Port Administration Transition Plan.
