Health officials seek info about pit bull 

Health officials ask residents for help in identifying a female pit bill dog that bit a person at about 4 p.m. Thursday in the Crystal River area.

The dog is brindle colored, weighs 40 to 50 pounds and stands 19 inches tall. The incident occurred near West Gator Lane. 

Call Citrus County Animal Services at 352-746-8400 immediately with information. If the dog is not found, the bite victim may have to undergo a series of rabies shots.


Democratic clubs having joint meeting

The combined meeting of the four Democratic clubs in Citrus County will be take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Seven Rivers Golf and Country Club in Crystal River.

The speaker will be David Koller, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives. 

Those wishing to have dinner are asked to arrive by 6 p.m.

Seventh-graders required to get Tdap

The Citrus County School Board reminds parents of 2014-15 school year seventh-graders that the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) immunization is required before starting school.

If a child has received the Tdap immunization, parents should bring proof to the school so that the date is entered on the child’s immunization record.

Bunco Bash to help spay/neuter pets

SnippetCitrus will host a Bunco Bash in Sunday, June 22, at the Citrus County Resource Center, 2804 W. Marc Knighton Court, Lecanto. 

From 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. there will be snacks, Bunco Bags Auction and Share the Wealth. Bunco will begin at 12:30 pm. There will be help for those who do not know how to play, as well as snacks and prizes. Everyone is welcome. 

The person who registers the most people will win four free reservations for the next Bunco Bash. Entry is a $12 nonrefundable 


All proceeds will benefit SnippetCitrus, a group of concerned Citrus County citizens seeking to reduce the homeless population of dogs and cats in Citrus County. 

The Bunco Bash will raise funds to provide low-cost spay/neuter services to families that qualify. 

Only those who make a reservation will be guaranteed a seat.
