FEMA rep speaking at FFRA meeting

Linda Carter, FEMA coordinator for persons with disabilities, will address the Family and Friends Reaching for the Abilities (FFRA) at its monthly meeting, from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 16. The public is welcome.

Carter will address procedures important for seniors and any persons with a disability, in the event of a community emergency situation, such as a hurricane. This information is especially important for those who may be relying on oxygen.

In addition to the presentation, attendees can register with the No Person Left Behind program, which provides assistance in the event of emergencies.

Although the sheriff’s office issues emergency information material, the No Person Left Behind material goes further in detailing information for special-needs individuals in the event of an emergency.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office plans to send a representative to the meeting to also answer any questions from the public.

FFRA meets the third Friday monthly at the Key Training Center building, 130 Heights Ave., Inverness. Social time and a business meeting begin at 9 a.m. followed by the speaker at 10 a.m.
