Community center advocacy meeting set

The Beverly Hills Civic Association invites anyone interested to a meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Central Ridge Community Center.

The purpose of the meeting is to seek advocates to help with the association’s campaign to keep the community center under county ownership.

Volunteers are needed to help distribute 2014 membership information for the pool and other facilities and to get post cards signed for presentation to the Citrus County Commission. A decision by the county is expected May 27.

Water/wastewater board meeting May 5

The Citrus County Water and Wastewater Authority will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Room 166 of the Lecanto Government Building, 3600 W. Sovereign Path, Lecanto. 

Agenda items include a public hearing and consideration of a final order of the Water & Wastewater Authority in the matter of a tariff modification to allow for the inclusion of rate case amortization expense (4 cents for water and 5 cents for wastewater to be added to the customers’ water and wastewater base facility charges only).

This meeting is open to the public.

Any person requiring reasonable accommodation at this meeting because of a disability or physical impairment should contact the Office of Utility Regulation at 352-419-6520 at least one week before the meeting.


Road resurfacing workshop scheduled

The Board of County Commissioners plans a public workshop on the voluntary road resurfacing program at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Citrus County Courthouse. This will directly follow the regularly scheduled board meeting and is open to the  public.

Staff will be making a presentation on the specific aspects of the proposed program, followed by public questions and comments. The purpose of the workshop is to share information and allow public comment; board action on the voluntary program will not be taken on this day.

Extension Service offers workshop 

Citrus County Florida-Friendly Landscaping is offering a free gardening workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6. 

Managing a healthy lawn is often a full-time job and recurring expense. Selection of the right materials to accomplish a specific task is the best place to start. Sustainable lawn varieties, typical weed infestations and pests that target the varieties will be highlighted during the workshop.

The class will be at the Citrus County Extension Service building, 3650 W. Sovereign Path, Lecanto.
