­Traffic safety team meeting at EOC

The next meeting of the West Central Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST) is from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Center in Lecanto. 

CTSTs help to solve local traffic safety problems. One common goal of each CTST is to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes within their community.

Key Center hiring for multiple positions

There will be a Key Training Center Hiring Event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion, 683 S. Adolph Point, Lecanto. No appointment necessary. 

Positions available include: retail store resale manager and sales associates, resident manager assistants, part-time residential aides, part-time bus driver and part-time instructor assistant. Shifts and requirements vary.

Boat ramp closed for weekend’s festival 

The Hernando beach boat ramp and parking area will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday, March 14, through 11 p.m. Saturday, March 15, for the Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday.

Extension to talk health care reform

Citrus County Extension Services will have an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, titled “Understanding the Healthcare Marketplace” at the Extension Office, 3650 W. Sovereign Path in Lecanto. Those with questions regarding the new health care law or qualification for tax credits to help pay for health insurance will have the opportunity to clear up confusion, understand options, make informed health insurance decisions and apply for coverage. Please bring 2013 tax information, current pay stubs, and immigration papers if applicable.

Parsons to speak to Citrus County Council

Acting County Attorney Kerry Parsons will be the guest speaker at today’s meeting of the Citrus County Council (CCC), a citizens’ watchdog group.

Parsons has served in her position since October and will give information about county legal issues. Commissioner John “JJ” Kenney will also attend to discuss county issues. 

Doors open at 8:30 a.m.  for refreshments and networking, with the meeting starting at 9 a.m. at the Beverly Hills Lions Club, 72 Civic Circle, Beverly Hills. The public is invited.
