DAVE SIGLER/Chronicle
Front-end loaders clear a large piece of property for the construction of a medical office complex along State Road 44 in Crystal River. Spires Contracting Corp. is currently preparing the property at the corner of S.R. 44 and Pennsylvania Avenue for the construction of the Christ Medical Center, owned and operated by Citrus Dialysis Treatment and Weight Loss Center. There will be two phases of construction with a 17,000-square-foot building and an additional 13,000-square-foot building. Dr Eihad Tawfik is the owner of the property. Construction should be completed in 11 months,
according to Butch Spires, principal in charge of Spires Construction Corp.
Another medical complex? How many of them are already standing empty awaiting tenents? As JustAmazed said: "this is progress?" We need this just like we need the "medical corridor" on 491 in Lecantor/Beverly Hills or like Clinton needs another intern.

Progress would be something that becomes a long time asset and value to the community of Citrus County. This, on the other hand, is another example of what Citrus County doesn't need and is definitely not contributing to progress. Progress would be the utilization of land to produce a substantial number of jobs while sustaining itself through the consumers of the county. Heck, this isn't even a story.....it's a picture with an explanation. Another medical facility in Citrus County......just what we need, huh? There are plenty of medical facilities around the county and many of them are not that great in the first place. Manufacturing, retail, or other service industries would be progress and news but, not another doctor's office. All this will do, for all you save the land people that don't want progress, is move doctors to a new location leaving land and buildings vacant while moving into a new facility. What a waste of land and natural resources! But, I guess the Chronicle has to sell papers somehow......even if it uses deception to do so, while telling you that you should be happy were getting a new medical facility where the prices will be even hire to pay for the new building! The Chronicle should think before printing stories like this!
