Deputies who responded to the vicinity in question discovered a gray-colored Chrysler in the middle of the road at W. Cyrus Street and N. Reynolds Avenue. Inside, they found a 27-year-old Jamie Seeger of Crystal River who'd apparently been shot to death.

Crime scene technicians also were dispatched to begin processing the scene. Detectives opened their homicide investigation.

I can understand 1 or 2

I can understand 1 or 2 cases...TOPS! But 23 cases?! Huh, thats was nothing but absolute GREED on the part of CCSO narc unit. & yes, she WAS a former corrections officer, for CCA in Lecanto. 23 cases? You know her name came up somewhere on a witness list. Many years ago, my house was served w a search warrant, all bc of a damn roommate selling pot. (My roommate told me he knew who turned him in, it was obvious, after the fact) I was there during what the detectives said & did. Basically, work for us or go to jail. My roommate gave them 2 people they asked for by being their CI & then I kicked my dope dealing roommate out. Approx 2 months later, these SAME detectives, came to my house, knowing my roommate already moved out, knowing I had NOTHING to do w my rommmate selling pot & searched my home w/o ANY warrants, tried using intimidation on ME. It didnt work, as I wasnt involved in drugs. The fact is, if you get caught doing drugs & CCSO asks you to give them "a couple people" to get yourself off the hook...CCSO keeps coming back, warrant or not, they use illegal tactics, intimide people who werent even involved, just to get themselves a name. I have a name for them, its a common name...its called ORGANIZED CRIME! I know who you are, YOU know who you are...so hows that demotion working for ya? Some were FIRED, some were only demoted or transferred to other units. Absolute power corrupts absolutely! Some of these "cops" need to be on a tighter LEASH or prison! The BS they do & people they stomp on...word gets around REALLY quick in a small town. There are some very wonderful cops in CCSO that EARN the communitys' respect. But sadly, they dont get the credit that due them & the bad seeds ruin it for the whole dept.

blame game

Do you or do you not think that this woman who was an adult made a choice to become a CI? I would think that most people would have some knowledge of possible danger that comes with being a narc.....It may be easier just to blame others for the choice that this adult woman made.

I don't know what's wrong

I don't know what's wrong with you. I don't know what would possess you to accuse a murder victim, a young mother of two, of being on meth. Do you understand what decorum is? Think what you want but this is a small town and you can be sure people who know this woman may read this and your tasteless comments have no place in THIS news story - the first breaking article posted on this story. Have some common decency. I promise, nothing bad will happen if you act like a civilized human being.

I don't know....

I have no sympathy for ADULTS that commit crimes, use drugs, etc. Most of all I have no sympathy for bleeding hearts like you who see the world through rose colored glasses and refuse to believe there is bad in this world. She would not be DEAD is she hadn't put herself in this situation in the first place.

yes crime is everywhere and

yes crime is everywhere and yes it sucks. After living in Pinellas county for 40 years Citrus is a safe haven compared to the jungle down there.

Yet another horrible crime

Very sad to see yet another young person murdered. Definately a life taken too soon.

Because this sounded like the case on Hwy 486 I just checked where W. Cyrus Street is located. It is within two miles of a similar shooting on Hwy 486 of an elderly couple driving in their car in May where the victim was shot in her neck and eye about the same time of this shooting at 2:30AM? Check the article history on line.

This county use to be a safe place to live and raise a family not anymore.

Name??

Does that article say officials have not released her name? Now in the next paragraph does it say her name and age????? Is my comprehension not working? Am i missing something?

Classless Chronicle

Nice job....the last place this young women lived in her short life and you throw up a pic , bulletholes and all...for what, shock? You should be ashamed.

Very sorry for the loss. This

Very sorry for the loss.

This place sucks.

places do not suck

Places do not suck by themselves. It is the screwy people in the places that suck.

to very sorry for the loss.

Then move Alfred. It's that simple!

I'm a homeowner, it's not

I'm a homeowner, it's not simple. I've been here for a couple decades and I've watched the steady decline to what it has become. This place most definitely sucks - but that doesn't mean it isn't home. And finding a new "home" not the solution.

Just because I think this place sucks doesn't mean I have to move. In the micro, my home, on my block in my town does not suck. The county outside of my home here is what sucks.

It can be better. Cities and counties can be turned around. Compare NYC in 1970 to 2012. If it can be done there, it can be done here. But first we have to admit there is a problem and it needs to be priority #1. The rivers, the manatees and the small town atmosphere are all nice, but at what point do we accept that things are worse than ever?

The problem is, the people with the power to make things better are not in a position where they can even admit there is a problem because it would likely guarantee their defeat in the upcoming election. That may be cynical and I hope I'm wrong about that. It's time to clean things up.

And this is all so small compared to the loss of life here. I don't want to read anymore stories like this.

Very well stated Alfred

I have resided here over 45 years and watched the steady delined myself. This county was such a nice place to live. The powers to be have to do something about except at election time with the grandstanding. There is no more hiding it folks, violet dangerous crime is here in our faces. I know it is bad for politics and denying it works best, fudge is better when making the crime STATS. However that only puts all of us at risk of being the next victim.

to very sorry for the loss.

Then move Alfred. It's that simple!

CherN

No it's not that simple. We have to sell our house and spend a lot of money to pack everything, ship it somewhere else, and find another job. Not to mention uproot our families and lose friends. The CCSO Sheriff and Captain Buddy Grant has said Citrus County is the safest County in the entire state of Florida. We have been lied to and misled. They have cut back on patroling communities and crime PREVENTION. There main focus is on minor trafic violations and minor drug offenses, go read the arrest reports they are ridiculous. Homicides of teenage boys, suicides, murder-suicides, burglaries, home invasions, and grand thefts have all gone up in the past few years but we rarely hear about every single one of them in the news. Like I said nothing is done by our sheriffs department to prevent this, only cutbacks have been made. I have seen less and less deputies on the streets everyday and especially at night when these horrible crimes are committed. We have been lied to by our own sheriffs department and are stuck here having to pay for it. Don't believe me then go here and look at all the offense reports the deputies have taken but have not prevented because they were to busy sitting on the side of the road running radar to give senior citizens speeding tickets: http://www.sheriffcitrus.org/public/OfRpt.aspx

I want the chronicle to report on every single burglary that has occured in the past 72 hours which I counted about 9 residential ones. Are we really that safe?

Yet another tragedy has happened and I am very sorry for the family for there loss.

Sucks?

Maybe you'd prefer a police state. Would that make you feel a little better?

We need better stewards of our money

Put the 10 Captains with big fat saleries they just promoted out working nights in the field instead of all working 9-5 with weekends/holidays off inside the sheriffs building. We need the police working to protect us by patrolling and their presence not lip service of the computer generated policing crap which obviously is not working.

Not the deputies fault, poor administration is to blame. Time for a change!
