CRYSTAL RIVER — Cowboy hats and boots were the fashion of the evening Thursday at the 29th annual Citrus County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council BBQ.
More than 500 people attended the event at Holcim Ranch in Crystal River.
Tobey Phillips, events and outreach coordinator for the Chamber, said despite the rain, people had a great time.
“People enjoyed the food and the bands,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of positive feedback.”
This year the food was cooked by members of the Agricultural Alliance of Citrus County. Dixie Hollins also made some of his fried green tomatoes that were served as an appetizer along with the smoked pork, beef brisket and smoked sausage served at the event.
Citrus County Commissioner Joe Meek said, “It was a great time, excellent crowd. Hundreds of people, and it was a chance for us to say thank you to the business community. It was just a huge success.”
The barbecue is the final event of the Citrus County Chamber and EDC Salute to Business during the month of
September.
